Moldable

adjective

able to be shaped

The world is more moldable than most people think. But hearing that once changes nothing. What changes you is who you are around: the five people closest to you decide what feels possible, long before you choose a path. Grow up around people who shape things every day, and you start shaping things too.

WhatsApp came from a village near Kyiv and a family that once lined up for food stamps. DeepMind came from a chess prodigy in north London. Chobani came from a dairy farm in eastern Turkey. Their founders found the way, mostly alone.

Many more are found late. Katalin Karikó was demoted for refusing to give up on mRNA, nearly thirty years before it won her a Nobel Prize. Most are never found at all. From the Atlantic to the Bosphorus, ability runs far ahead of access to money, customers and experienced founders.

But the deeper gap is agency: the habit of acting on what you see. Talent is spread unevenly. That habit is spread far more unevenly, and unlike talent, it can be passed on. Across Europe, the brightest fifteen-year-olds are taught to play it safe. No wonder that, around the world, nearly half of adults who see a good opportunity never act on it, for fear of failing. Too many accept a smaller set of possibilities, too early.

San Francisco is where ambition compounds. Starting something is normal there, the hardest problems carry the most status, and founders a decade apart spend time together as friends. Europe's best founders feel the pull. But it comes late, and only for the few who find their way alone.

That costs the world more than any one company. A company solves one problem; a founder solves many over a lifetime, and teaches others to do the same. Yet founders still cluster in a handful of cities, while the world's problems sit everywhere else. We believe in scaling founders across the world, so that every place has people who fix what is broken around them.

Moldable brings San Francisco to young people across Europe years before they would find it alone. Three things make it different. We go earlier: every year we start younger, because AI now lets one young person build what took a funded team a few years ago. We are only operators: everyone who works with you has built something. And we work instead of talk: we sit beside each person on their hardest problem, whether a first prototype or a first customer, until it moves. Agency is caught, not taught. When you are ready to build, we will back you, and what you build will be yours.

Nothing compounds like the people around you and the hardest problem you can find. Who you are around should not be a matter of luck. Everyone we help becomes someone who helps the next. We want that to start at fifteen, in Lisbon, London, Stockholm, Warsaw and everywhere in between, not at twenty-five after a lucky move to San Francisco.

Write to us if you are young and already molding something; if someone once opened a door for you and you want to open one for the next person; if you teach or coach people bigger than their circumstances; or if you want to build Moldable with us.
